FAQ

What is the origin content of protein in pea?

The origin content is usually around 23% but, of course, can vary from 21-29 % depends which genotype has been used. On the market is mainly available that one with around 23 %.

What is the origin content of starch in pea?

The origin content is usually from 40-45 %.

How many percentages is considered to be hull?

A hull is considered to be around 10%.

How do we get so high concentrate protein and starch product?

Classification is called a process where by using of air we are getting high concentrate products.

Where we can use so high-concentrate protein/starch/fiber?

So high concentrate products have wide range of possible use in mainly food and feed industry business. In terms of food industry all three products can be used as replacer, additives or main ingredients into different recipes depends what they will be used for. On the other side, feed industry has also high requirements due to their needs, so high protein can be used, and is already used, as a replacement of fishmeal in fish food recipes, as milk replacer, while starch is used in animal feed production as an excellent source of nutritional value and improver of physical quality in terms of binding properties. Hulls have also found its place and use in this world as a good source of fibers improving digestion in animals. Regarding digestibility it must be confirm that all three products are highly digestible.

What makes uniqueness of those products?

Certainly one of the main uniqueness would be presence of one fraction in another. To more simplify, a high protein concentrate with, let’s say, 55% will still have around 8% of starch which gives an extra benefit either from nutritional prospective or from the physical quality point of view if we consider very good binding properties of starch itself. Also, a starch fraction with approximately 65% of concentration will have around 17% of protein.

What does it mean food or feed standard grade product?

Food and feed grade standard product is a classification of quality of a product itself. The main difference and use itself is in a level of crude fiber. The food grade standard product is considered to be of 85% and more while the feed grade standard product is lower than 85%. Following that pattern, the food grade hulls find their usage mainly in human food industry as an additive to different recipes (in making bread, all the other types of food such as meat, different products of meat, etc.). The feed grade hulls have found its application in feed industry as one of the ingredients.

Is it possible to get high protein concentrate of 60%?

The existing technology enables us to produce high protein concentrate in wide variety of range, thus 60% is one of them.

How high is the content of ANF’s in the peas?

Peas are known as low risk cultivar when it comes to anti-nutritional factors (ANF), especially spring types. In our production we are using mainly that type of peas.
